92% of the Czech population orders at least one parcel every month, whether to their home, an access point or a box. One third of domestic customers order three or more parcels, according to a survey commissioned by PPL. Just under twenty percent of respondents report that delivery saves them up to three hours of time per week, which they would otherwise spend visiting brick-and-mortar stores.

Thanks to the dominance of e-commerce here, the shipping company PPL is celebrating the big milestone of delivering its 500 millionth story with a happy ending. The 500 millionth parcel, together with a special gift in the form of a valuable electric scooter, was accepted by a recipient from Beroun. The carrier successfully reached its first million in 1998.

It is fulfilling to look back at what we have achieved in the 28 years of PPL’s existence. With the delivery of the anniversary shipment, we confirmed our position as the market leader. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we provide them with the best possible services and products. However, the foundation of our success is our people at PPL. A team we can rely on. I would like to thank them for their excellent work so far and their commitment to moving PPL forward,” commented Petr Horák, CEO of PPL CZ.

Joining the DHL Group in 2006 marked a major shift in PPL’s operations. It gave the company an international reach. PPL is part of the DHL eCommerce division, which enables the transport and delivery of Czech shipments across Europe.

PPL celebrated the delivery of its 100 millionth parcel in 2010, when it also started offering cash-on-delivery through card payments as a new feature. The company opened its first partner PPL Parcelshops two years later, in line with customer demand. PPL celebrated its 1,000th Parcelshop in 2015 and the first PPL Parcelbox in 2021.

PPL Listens to Its Customers

It is the expansion of the access point network that PPL has been focusing on most in recent years and it is preparing to exceed 7,000 access points at the turn of the year. The company currently has more than 1,000 employees and external workers and nearly 2,000 drivers. It has tens of thousands of customers and millions of recipients. This year, PPL won the Great Place To Work award for the third time and obtained Top Employer certification for the second time.

PPL enters the 2023 season with almost 30 network points, including a new transshipment point in Hradec Králové, and a modern mobile app, called mojePPL. “We are delighted to have reached another milestone in such a successful year, delivering the 500 millionth parcel in our history. It happened on 18 August 2023 at 8:45. I’m proud of my father, who laid the foundations for the company and led it for a long time, but also of my colleagues at PPL – this is our joint success, which we will soon repeat,Horák concluded.
