The service can be used above all by people who sell goods over the internet such as through popular internet bazars. This area is growing even faster than the traditional e-shops as private individuals are already sending 10 million parcels a year today. The company expects that up to a third of them can now take up the cash on delivery service. Cash on delivery payments accounts for 53% of purchases from e-shops, annually this is 94 billion crowns for the entire market.

The sender can post a parcel from almost 2000 PPL Parcelshops or call a PPL driver directly from home. The money for the posted parcel will then be sent to his account within 7 working days after the cash on delivery payment. The recipient will collect the parcel from one of the pick-up points or a driver will deliver it directly to his home. This way the buyer and seller will avoid having to queue and will sort everything out from the comfort of the home or perhaps on the way to work. As well as making a cashless payment, the advantage of the Parcel For You service is the possibility of being able to send large parcels weighing up to 31.5 kilos. “Parcels being sent between private individuals is increasing from one year to the next. Currently this is about ten million parcels a year. Roughly a third of them could be paid by cash on delivery,” Petr Horák, Managing Director PPL CZ s.r.o. explains the reason for introducing the service. “Many people still regard it as a certain risk to send money to an unknown account first and then having to wait if goods purchased in an online bazar will actually arrive. Therefore we want to offer people maximum comfort and service by introducing cash on delivery. Currently we have been promoting contactless delivery which includes cashless payment on delivery by card with all drivers and in season also at a large number of our PPL Parcelshops,” adds Horák. The service is fully secure for both parties.

Internet bazars welcome the service

The service is designed primarily for people who sell and buy via online ad portals. “The buyer can be motivated by cash on delivery to increase the number of purchases made via ad servers. For many people sending money to an account before receiving goods presents a certain risk which decreases in the case of cash on delivery,” says Pavel Kolář, manager of the Sbazar.cz server, via which 200,000 sales were made in the first three months of this year alone.

Czechs love paying cash on delivery

For goods bought online cash on delivery is clearly the most popular form of payment. Orders from e-shops account for an entire 53% of all purchases made that are then delivered by PPL.

“Therefore we hope that the service has great potential,” says Horák. “There are few countries where parcels by cash on delivery are as popular as in our country. This way we want to make it easier for our customers to send and pay for parcels safely even between private individuals.”

All you need to do to send a parcel is to fill in this web form, print out a label, pay online and post the parcel from the nearest PPL Parcelshop or order for a driver to pick it up. The cash on delivery price is 30 CZK, now at a special offer only 19 CZK. The price for sending a parcel as such starts at 99 CZK. For more information visit the PPL website.
