Over the last season, PPL managed to deliver a record 10 million shipments.  In total this is 50% more shipments than last year. "Not only was the season itself, but also the whole of last year, atypical for the entire logistics market, precisely because of the current pandemic and constantly changing government measures. All of this has very often tested our capacities in the harshest possible way, but on the other hand, these challenges have brought many improvements and acceleration of the projects. In order to maintain quality service despite the record numbers, deliveries were performed in two main lots including the evenings," says Petr Horák, Director General of PPL CZ, s.r.o.


Compared to the previous season, people did not leave their Christmas shopping for the last minute and spread it more evenly, which greatly helped the entire delivery process.


"We would also like to thank our partners, who during the season really kept up with the agreed number of shipments, which has allowed us to maintain the very good quality of our services," added the Director-General. During the last season, Czechs have continued the trend registered by shipping companies over the last few years – and the fact that they have their shipments sent directly to the points of delivery, called Parcelshops. 


"More and more people are using this service and we expect this trend to continue in 2021, too," Horák adds.  


Out of the total volume, this represented 2 million consignments which the recipients requested to be sent to the points of collection and which they picked up themselves. Currently, PPL operates more than 2,300 partner Parcelshops across the Czech Republic. This brings many benefits to the consignment recipient, such as the option to pick it up on the way from work or according to the time available. Many customers welcome the fact that they have 7 days to pick up a consignment, which gives them great freedom in this respect.


Last year, PPL celebrated 25 years in the market, for the fourth time winning the title of the Most Trusted Brand in the Parcel Service category. "I'm very proud of the fact that we managed to defend this title. Every link is very important throughout the logistics process. We would like to give our thanks our employees, 2,000 drivers, customer service operators, depot and transship point workers, people working in administration, development and at the Parcelshops. They all contributed to the fact that our season was exceptional. I am very pleased that our company maintains a culture built on passion for packages, togetherness and great teamwork," Horák concludes.


Despite a strong turbulent period, government restrictions and difficult-to-predict pandemic developments, PPL plans to increase capacity in 2021, with a range of investments and innovations in the development and improvement of its services in the Czech market, as well as in foreign transport.
