Hustopeče (Breclav Region) October 27 (CTK) - A new modern hall with an area of 3,000 square metres was opened today by the transport company PPL CZ in Hustopeče in the Breclav Region. In normal operation, it will be able to send 15,000 parcels a day, doubling PPL CZ's capacity in the South Moravia region. Petr Horák, CEO of PPL CZ, told journalists today.
"Our depot in Brno-Líšeň has long been under pressure from the number of shipments, so the opening of the new depot will relieve it. The depot in Hustopeče will also strengthen our transport network in the direction of Slovakia, Austria and Hungary," said Horák.
The building, which was built by property developer Contera to meet PPL CZ's needs, is ready for carbon-neutral operation. It has lowered ceilings compared to conventional halls, is ready for the installation of photovoltaics and batteries, is lit with energy-saving LED lights and works more with daylight. The technology is also a third more efficient than at PPL CZ's other 24 depots in the Czech Republic. The hall is located in a complex that has a total area of 19,000 square metres, with the free area serving mainly as a parking lot for PPL CZ vehicles and company employees.
The Hustopeč depot is also the first where PPL CZ has had equipment installed that automatically weighs and measures all packages. Nine intelligent devices for sorting packages by destination are placed on 543 metres of conveyors. The new depot has created 30 jobs, all of which are filled.
Petr Horák also said that two more new PPL CZ depots are now being built near Prague and Ostrava, following the model of the depot in Hustopeče.
PPL CZ is part of DHL eCommerce Solutions. It specializes in parcel transportation in the Czech Republic and Europe. The company employs nearly 1,000 staff and 2,000 drivers. It has 25 depots, two central transshipment points and a network of 4,000 dispatch and delivery points. Last year the company generated a net profit of CZK 573 million on a turnover of CZK 4.8 billion.
