PPL opens new depot. This time reinforcing the Liberec Region

“Due to its strategic location on the Prague slip road, this second depot in Liberec is mainly a great benefit for our customers. As a result, in this locality we are increasing the capacity of the transport network even more, and we can handle and deliver a larger number of consignments than previously, while still maintaining the quality of our services at a perfect level,” says Petr Horák, CEO of PPL CZ s.r.o.

So the opening of the new depot will contribute significantly to the further development of our logistics network. Thanks to the depot, the drivers get onto the distribution route earlier than before, which the parcel recipients in particular will appreciate. Every day, up to forty PPL vans will set out from the new depot and deliver another 6000 consignments to recipients in the Liberec Region.
Before actual operations began, the building underwent a two-month reconstruction. At present the depot serves only for distribution, but from 2021 it is assumed that it will be utilised fully, including a collection capacity.

Along with the opening of the second depot, we are rolling out the pilot operation of electrodeliveries in Liberec, and you can already see the first PPL cycle couriers on the streets of Liberec, just as in Prague, Brno and Hradec Králové. This is one of the first steps that we are taking to implement our strategic aim of fully ecological consignment delivery by 2050.

“For a long time now we have perceived the potential for a capacity increase in this area. And the development of our logistical infrastructure is also one of our strategic corporate priorities. This year we have expanded the depot in Humpolce and Zlín, and over the next few months we will be opening up new operations throughout the entire Czech Republic in order to ensure sufficient capacity for the Christmas season and allow further growth for our customers’ businesses,” adds Petr Horák.
