The first of these opened in November in the vestibule of the Bořislavka metro station in Prague 6. Customers can collect e.g. gifts from e-shops or send parcels (even abroad) in the period before Christmas.

The company decided to open a PPL Parcelshop, which is entirely managed by PPL, for several reason. Its chief aim is to increase the capacity of existing partner Parcelshops and expand the network in areas with insufficient coverage. “There is only a definite number of companies on the market that are suited to becoming our delivery and collection points. This number is declining continuously as our network expands. Therefore, we opted for this step and opened our first private PPL Parcelshop. We would like to offer our customers an even broader network across the Czech Republic, as well as extra services which are not normally available at our partner locations,” explains Milan Loidl, Business Development & Marketing Director DHL Parcel CZ/SK from PPL CZ s.r.o.

The gala opening took place on Friday and the first customers were not long in coming. “The opening of the first private PPL Parcelshop is a major milestone for us, which coincided with the celebration of defending our Most Trustworthy Brand of 2019 in the Parcel Services category this year. We are currently handling dozens of parcels, but we expect the capacity to be fully used with the forthcoming season. We plan to be open even on 24 December in order to best serve our customers. However, we recommend sending parcels at latest by 16 December if they are to arrive under the Christmas tree in time,” suggests Loidl.

The PPL Parcelshop at Bořislavka metro station can handle up to 300 parcels per day. It provides sufficient capacity for the highly-frequented junction at the exit from the Bořislavka metro station heading towards the Červený Vrch estate. In addition to parcel services, customers can also use supplementary services here. The staff are trained to provide assistance, for instance when claiming damaged goods. They can also give advice about suitable parcel packaging, to ensure it arrives at the destination safety if the customer is planning to send a parcel. In the future, it will be possible to buy packaging material and brand-name PPL Parcelshops.

At present, there are more than 1,800 partner PPL Parcelshops on the market. Most of these are smaller shops, such as tobacconists, flower shops, paper shops, etc. that have chosen cooperation with PPL to supplement their income. If e-shop customers opt for delivery of the goods to a PPL Parcelshop, they can collect their parcel within the next 7 days during the standard opening hours of the given delivery point. In addition to collecting parcels, private individuals can also submit their own parcels for sending, starting from CZK 89. PPL will deliver the parcel to the specified address or to another PPL Parcelshop. PPL’s contractual partners can also use PPL Parcelshops to send their consignments, instead of waiting for the collection driver.

In 2020, PPL intends to open two more private PPL Parcelshops while continuing to expand its standard partner network. More information about PPL Parcelshops is available at www.pplparcelshop.cz.
