As we have already announced, several changes are being made to our API platform. One of them is that all HTTP headers are now case insensitive and written in lower case.

This change has a specific impact, for example, on the POST method /ecs/ppl/myapi2/shipment/batch in the case of the “Location” header in the response. It will now be written entirely in lower case, i.e. "location".

Experience from implementations shows that a number of customers have their header-reading logic set up incorrectly. When creating a batch, they look for the “Location” header in the response and in that case they will not find the "location" header, even though it is the same object in the response. Unfortunately, the HTTP2 protocol implementation we are introducing with this change strictly enforces lower-case headers, so with this faulty client-side implementation the header is not found and the API integration stops working.

We therefore ask you to check this part of your integration and make sure your solution is ready for the change, otherwise it may stop working. If your implementation is not ready for it, it will have to be adjusted – this behaviour cannot be influenced on our side.

You can verify the correct behaviour in the sandbox environment by calling POST on https://x-api-sandbox.dhl.com/ecs/ppl/myapi2/shipment/batch. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We are confident that together we will handle it all successfully.
